Raffles Winds
Raffles Winds (RWinds), established in 2001 by a group of RJC alumni, is a symphonic wind orchestra composed of alumni and staff from Raffles Girls' School (RGS), Raffles Institution (RI), and Raffles Junior College (RJC). What began as a casual way for friends to relive their school band days quickly evolved into a well-regarded ensemble. Their first public performance was in 2002 at an Old Rafflesians Association (ORA) fundraising dinner, which led to collaborations with the RI Military Band (RIMB) and Raffles Symphonic Band (RSB).
In 2005, RWinds held its inaugural full concert, Coda I, at the Victoria Concert Hall, marking the beginning of the now-iconic Coda concert series. By 2015, RWinds celebrated its 10th Coda concert. Over the years, more than 300 members have participated in the orchestra, with performances that strengthen ties among alumni, students, and staff.
In addition to the Coda concert series, RWinds regularly performs at school band events, guest-plays for fundraising initiatives, and organizes alumni-student interactions, helping to maintain strong connections within the Rafflesian community.
